The Last Bell
A lo-fi horror game. Someone keeps calling about the old school.
Bellwether, October 1998
You're a patrol cop at the end of your shift. The old school on the hill has been sealed for four years, and someone has called it in three times tonight, using the same words each time.
You've never been up there. Another car has.
Everyone saw a piece of it.
Ask the Cashier, the Kid, the Woman and the Man, then put it together in your case file. Try it: pick two notes that go together.
Pick a note to start.
The back road is chained
Someone in town knows where the bolt cutters are.
The Cashier
Works nights at Lamb's Market. Called it in twice and figures that's plenty.
The Kid
Thinks the old school is the best thing in town. Has seen a light moving around up there.
What you do
- Ask around
- Four people in town. Each one knows a little.
- Write it down
- Put two notes together and you learn something new.
- Find a way in
- The school is sealed. You'll have to work out how.
- Get out
- Getting in was the easy part.
The Woman
Treats it as a noise complaint. Two nights of ringing, from a tower with no bell in it.
The Man
Knocks on doors nobody answers. Has seen lights upstairs and brings it up like it's the weather.
Where it's at
Chapter 1 is playable. The school is next. It's built in Unreal Engine 5.5 to look like a PS1 game on a worn VHS tape, and you can turn that down in settings.
